Diamond Tip Microdermabrasion
Benefits of Diamond Tip Microdermabrasion
Diamond microdermabrasion is an improved substitution for the method based on crystals, which left behind the harmful crystals dust that are associated with microdermabrasion side effects.
Some of the common negative symptoms of crystal microdermabrasion reported by patients include temporary skin irritations, soreness, and dryness. Another advantage of using diamond tips rather than microdermabrasion crystals is that there is no risk of tiny crystals getting stuck inside the skin pores.
After The Diamond Dermabrasion Procedure
After dermabrasion treatment, patients may experience slight or severe pain, burning or aching on the treated area which will be red and swollen. Therefore, the patients may not be able to see the dermabrasion before and after differences yet.
For the first week just after the dermabrasion treatment, the patient is required to go for at least 2 follow-up visits so that the technician can monitor the progress of the skin recovery.
In fact, the healing period depends upon the depth of the dermabrasion procedure. If the dermabrasion causes deep resurfacing, more follow-up visits to the dermatologist are required. Generally, the healing of the skin takes about 7 to 14 days and patients can resume their daily activities after that.
Besides, the patients will be given post-treatment skincare instructions at home on changing the dressing for 2 to 4 days, followed by application of creams for 10 days until the treated skin heals with a layer of crust forming on the treated skin.
Once this layer of crust drops off, the new skin is reveal with a pinkish tone before it fades back to the normal skin color in 6 to 8 weeks time. It is only at this stage that the patient will be able to see the dramatic results by comparing dermbrasion before and after photos.
However, as the new skin is still tender and sensitive at this stage, regular moisturizing of the skin and avoiding exposure under the sun is a MUST to prevent skin discoloring.
